Marina Gatell Poch

Marina Gatell is a Spanish actress raised in Monistrol de Calders, a small village near Barcelona.

Her artistic career began with acting in theatre plays that she wrote and directed during the breakfast breaks at her school when she was a child. She juggled her regular studies with theatre lessons, music, piano, dance, and poetry writing.

At the age of 17, she started performing professionally in several theaters in Barcelona. When she turned 19, she moved to Madrid to lead “7 VIDAS”, a sitcom TV series in TELE5.

Since then, she has become well-known for her leading roles in various TV comedy series like “MAJORIA ABSOLUTA” and “LALOLA” (where she played the role of Lalola, a man who wakes up one day turned into a woman, for 166 episodes). Recently, she has played main characters in “NACHO” (LIONSGATE), “GARCIA” (HBO), and “THE COOK OF CASTAMAR” (NETFLIX).

Marina has also taken on leading roles in many fiction TV movies, including “TERRA BAIXA”, “CARTA A EVA”, and “DESPRÉS DE LA PLUJA”.

In cinema, Marina is well-known in Spain for movies such as “NOSOTRAS”, “LYSISTRATA”, and “PA NEGRE” (awarded with 9 Goya awards and the Spanish selection for the Oscars in 2010). She has also led international feature films like “TWO”, directed by Mar Targarona for NETFLIX, “LITTLE ASHES”, directed by the Oscar-nominated Paul Morrison and “MONK”, directed by the Dutch director Ties Schenk.
